The Hoops School was established to teach kids the correct way of playing basketball, not only the physical skills and drills involved in the sport but the mental aspects as well. Starting with one venue in year 2002, at Meralco Gym, Hoops School today conducts its camps and clinics in more than 70 venues nationwide, including malls and company gyms.

Hoops School was founded by former PBL Commissioner and PBA Team Manager Charlie Favis and was ably assisted by the PBA’s only 7-time Best Import Bobby Parks.

No. of Sessions/Days Per Camp/Clinic: During the school year, we try to teach kids on Saturdays and Sundays. In the summer months, we hold our sessions every other day or twice a week, or even once a week, depending on the school’s preference or gym availability. Our programs consist of 7 sessions (for Basic), 7 sessions (for Intermediate/Advance), and 7 sessions for the Advance Dribbling & Shooting Skills Camp. Each session consists of 2 hours. We believe seven sessions are enough to jumpstart the kids, on their way to being knowledgeable in basketball fundamentals, which include ball handling, passing, defense, rebounding and shooting. In between the sessions, we include lectures on the mental aspects of the game, video viewing, and guest appearances of basketball personalities.
Participants: Hoops School enrollees start from 6 years of age to 11 and 12 to 17 years of age.   Hoops School modules are available for different age groups, from toddlers to advanced varsity players.   All registrants are assessed on the first day of the camps, after which they are assigned to different groups.
